ACADEMICS
Our number one goal in college is our education. We believe that a solid education will provide opportunities for personal and professional growth. We, as students and as sisters of Sigma Lambda Gamma, have an obligation to ourselves and our future to achieve academic success. We hold our members to high academic standards and require sisters to maintain 2.75-4.0 cumulative GPA. We also provide our members with the academic assistance necessary to succeed, such as study table sessions and study skills resources.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
As productive members of our society, we are committed to our community and to help those in need. Participating in community service not only provides a tremendous benefit to those around us but also allows us to say “thank you” to those who offered a helping hand to us when we needed it. Our service to others gives us rewarding experiences and opens our eyes to a better understanding of world issues. As part of giving back Sigma Lambda Gamma participates with service and fundraising to our philanthropies, The Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness and The Trio Program.
CULTURAL AWARENESS
Sigma Lambda Gamma believes that "Culture is Pride, Pride is Success." We celebrate our diversity and encourage our members to explore their roots, share their cultures, learn about other backgrounds. In doing this, we promote respect and understanding of other perspectives and of our cultural heritages. In a multicultural sorority, discovering similarities and differences unifies us, fosters sisterly environment, and enhaces our collegiate experience.
SOCIAL INTERACTION
We believe positive social interaction strengthens our sisterhood. It also benefits the community at large, whether it is through our campus programming, community service, or social events. One of the advantages of joining Sigma Lambda Gamma is the opportunity to build genuine bonds through interacting and networking with many different sisters; not only in a region but also across the nation. By joining a sisterhood of so many different types of woman, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and recognize the importance of respecting each other as individuals.
MORALS AND ETHICS
We strive to live our lives morally, with integrity and to positively represent SLG. We respect all people and cultures and live by life’s Golden Rule. Once we are initiated into the respected sisterhood of Sigma Lambda Gamma, we must remember that we are always viewed as representatives of the organization. Our behavior not only reflects our individual value systems, it influences others’ perception of the sorority. Providing a positive image of Sigma Lambda Gamma and its sisterhood is one more way that we can serve the organization now and in years to come.
